Dargus Kelen was born in Cantha about five years before the ascension of Kormir. After training under Master Togo and Instructor Ng for 21 years, Dargus finally earned the right to train as a Ranger. At graduation, Instructor Ng sent Dargus to fulfill his final tests before becoming a full fledged Ranger.

Being attuned to nature as he is, Dargus tamed a tiger in the field to join him in his travels. As Dargus completed his final tests with Sojuun and Zho, the tiger grew in power and loyalty. Soon, the tiger grew too powerful for him to control, and Dargus was forced to take it to the world-renowned Zaishen Menagerie. The Zaishen Menagerie was revered for the quantity of animal companions available.

Just after Dargus lost his tiger, his last test was postponed by Master Togo. Disappointed that he had come so far just to fall short of the Master’s approval, Dargus started talking to the other students and teachers. He learned the basics of Elemental control, Divine healing, and Swordsmanship. While talking to the students, Dargus learned how to heal basic wounds, and set broken bones.

Three weeks later, Dargus is called to meet with Master Togo. A private meeting with Master Togo is the highest honor any student can attain. That is when Master Togo informed Dargus that he was the best Ranger in the school, and was needed for a special task. One of the Master’s oldest friends, Minister Cho, had not been heard from in at least a week. A servant from his estate was found running around Sunqua Valley shouting about poison and disease.

When Master Togo, Dargus and Yijo Tahn, the best Ritualist in the school, arrived at the gates they saw nothing but bodies and fighting across Cho’s home. Guards fought against Guards, Servants fought against Servants, Cho’s pets fought against everyone. Dargus was able to fight his way across the fields and through the guard posts with Master Togo and Yijo to arrive in front of Minister Cho. To their horror, the Minister had transformed into a diseased, evil being. With Dargus’ arrows flying true, Cho was killed to prevent the spread of the plague that had transformed him.

Little did Dargus know that it was already too late…
